  • I tried it when the first one I tried didn’t work out.

Ctrl+C hard locked it instantly every time I pushed it. I could right-click and choose “Copy”, but pushing Ctrl-C just froze whatever image was on screen. No response at all after that. Plus it was giving me a headache trying to get Nvidia drivers installed.

So then I moved to Pop since the correct driver was baked in, and it’s been mostly smooth since.

  • Man I remember that update. I did hear about it pretty quickly so I never actually downloaded it, but I saw screenshots afterwards of people reacting to seeing the ads and shit, and found qbit to be basically the same thing with a slightly different skin.

I still prefer the look of the old uTorrent (I’m assuming it’s very different now) though.

But I stopped using torrents probably within a month of that happening. Haven’t messed with piracy since, but things are looking… inevitable.

  • Linux will be my next OS. Win11 is a nightmare, and now with the huge progress Linux has made in the gaming space, is just a no brainer.

I’m not very experienced with it yet, but I did dial not it for a while back in college, back when Ubuntu’s Feisty Fawn was the newest shit, and Edgy Eft was the more established version. I didn’t do a whole lot with it, because I mainly used the PC to write papers for classes and gaming. And Linux gaming back then was mostly non existent.

But I did ok with using it for browsing and research and using LibreOffice to write the document. Actually had to manually write a cfg file to get the extra buttons on my mouse to work like they were supposed to.

Long story short, I don’t have much knowledge of it these days, that was back in 04-06ish. But I know enough to know how to look for what I need. And I have a friend who’s already made the switch for the same reason. I’m just paranoid to switch to it completely, as I’ve never done that, but I think I’ll be building a new rig soon anyway, so I might just start fresh with Linux for that.

Either way I’ll switch by the time Win10 ends support. I will not be installing 11 on anything of mine. I’ll probably still have family that will need it, but I’m not doing it.

  • I decided years ago to switch next time I change OS. I’m not ever getting Windows 11, but I’m still too much of a lazy bastard to move off Windows 10 til it stops getting support.

Maybe a wild hair up my ass to do it early will hit, but at the latest I’ll switch when 10 is dead. Or if I decide to finally build a new machine to update my poor dinosaur it’ll have Linux day 1.

In the meantime I’ll have to do some homework on proton and such to learn what I’m getting into with games so I can hit the ground running.
