VRR isn’t supported by default by most distros. Just because it works with your setup doesn’t mean it works for others.
Also, this event seems to be primarily focused on AMD/Mesa support.

Err… no it doesn’t. There are so many bug reports of neither HDR nor VRR working properly with the steam deck. My deck won’t even dock properly with my TV after recent updates.
It’s better than most other linuxes in the sense that it works sometimes I guess.
They’ll be right eventually.
No… that’s the decision of company who doesn’t want to invest in a new platform. They’d rather disable the app than support the users there.
That’s my point. If they believe the hardware will be successful they would want to release apps for it that give them the ability to capture and retain customers. As it stands Apple headset users can only really consume Apple content. So it’s much more likely they just don’t believe in the product not that they’re scared.
Your argument doesn’t make any sense. Spotify isn’t going to produce an AR headset and really doubt Netflix will either. It makes more sense for them to release apps for the device if they think it’s going to be successful.
Uh what? In what way would Spotify and Netflix be scared of this disruption?
Nope, it’s a WebKit/Safari bug. A fix was merged at the end of September but it hasn’t been released because Apple has the world’s slowest release process for system apps. It sucks that they won’t ship minor patches like that if it isn’t a security vulnerability.
In iOS 17.1 videos playing in Safari no longer prevent the screen from locking if they aren’t full screen. Maybe that’s intentional but it certainly seems like a bug. I find it very annoying.
Another Safari regression is the inability to scroll over video elements. Which really breaks the Voyager experience :(
Also, WatchOS 10.1 broke a bunch of complications for watch faces. They usually just fail to render. Which is also very annoying.
WatchOS 10 did fix a bug that was around for a long time. My watch used to fail to measure elevation gain while hiking but it works now. So that’s cool.
Their repairability does suck but they can still be repaired. It’s definitely not a trash it as soon as something fails situation.
Does the iMac really need an updated screen? Genuine question because I don’t know what it’s capable of at the moment.
Offering a pro model with 8GB of RAM is pretty silly. Anybody who buys that is not getting the proper experience.
Yeah, I actually liked that they kept this fairly brief. The “shot on iPhone” reveal was cute.
I wish they would have given some details behind how dynamic caching works. Without any context it kinda sounds like nonsense to me.
Why are they talking about iMessage on Mac like it’s a new feature? I guess people outside of the Mac ecosystem might not know.
It’s interesting that they keep harping on “when upgrading from an Intel-based Mac”. I guess their data shows that a lot of users are still on Intel chips. Or maybe it just makes a better comparison?
A MBP with 128GB of unified memory really outclasses most personal computers. They’re not wrong about that.
I really was hoping they would have picked a bold color.
Space Gray (Black) is so pro lmao
Thanks for the tip. I might have to try that. It was working mostly fine one day (no VRR) and then it was completely broken the next. :(
