I’m interested but don’t know enough to understand that answer.

I would have thought you need a bunch of fancy software for meteorology (expecting on windows).
Nah even on desktop it’s clunky.
Every now and then I get a forum as a search result and they’re just so clunky. Replies are spaced out too much, no chains, everyone has a long winded signature phrase. I’m glad it went to this kind of format.
Drone maker DJI is based in China and controls over 70% of the world’s drone market share, a combination that threatens U.S. lawmakers. As we first reported in April, 6% of DJI stock lies in the hands of Chinese state-owned businesses, which has led to fears of Chinese government backdoors, national security risks, and other fears of Chinese surveillance using the company’s drones.
Elise Stefanik, the Republican representative from New York who sponsors the anti-DJI legislation, said of the drones, “DJI presents an unacceptable national security risk, and it is past time that drones made by Communist China are removed from America.” Of course, this unacceptable risk h
“No one is allowed to deviate at all in the slightest bit ever, to the obvious bigger topic!!!”
The topic of oversized vehicles is not limited to trucks.
They stopped making Honda Fits (in North America) because there was no demand.
Different crash standards in US and Europe. Most companies don’t even bother getting cars tested (designed?) in both because the market demands are so different.
Don’t think it’s about privacy. It’s about that he wants money from openai because he tried to buy them out or something, or was involved a long time ago, or tried to get involved, or whatever, but he thinks he should have a big payday from it now that its stock is up.
you don’t get a “you are here”
Yeah, that’s my whole point.
I heard they’re teaching the navy to use sextants, just in case.
I’m curious, how much does 911 dispatch rely on Google maps? (Street view at all?)
This is why numbered roads are better. 5th St? Guess what’s coming next, 6th St!
To be more specific, I wonder how many people rely on GPS turn-by-turn navigation, vs being able to read and navigate by a map be it a paper map or electronic map (without ‘my location’ or other GPS functionality.)
I wonder how many youth can’t do paper maps.
Also, interesting comment I found on HN:
What is HN?
USC = US Customary unit of measurement, which is different than imperial unit of measurement. Many people don’t know, so if a bar owner buys pint glasses online, they may have no idea there’s a difference between them.
Is this a problem of imperial pints vs USC pints?
Would meteorologists be writing that stuff or just using it? I would have thought using, but not programming.
