Last time I used Solaris, that thing locked itself if someone casually unplugs the keyboard. Good luck with the WiFi card! 🤣
That’s what happens when we let soydevs name things.

Oh, nice choice!
I’m impressed by how they were able to make a worse ribbon interface than Microsoft itself.
“highly configurable” and “very little effort to start using” don’t blend together in car mechanics, and they don’t in Linux either.
I was going to suggest Gentoo or Arch because they’re the standard for “highly configurable” but they really demand some effort to start using them.
Also, so far, only Debian really, really, cares about open source, most distros don’t mind copyrighted video codecs or proprietary GPU drivers if they make the user’s life easier.
Systemd likes to ruin all the easy stuff with overcomplicated bloated programms.
Not really fond of it. But so far it’s the best tool I’ve found to be used in a professional environment that supports Exchange.
After 20 years, lots of people grow out of their mistakes and become wiser.
Ballmer is not one of these people.
Oh, that will explain why outlook runs like shit on my new computer.
And after trying Linux inside windows and then inside a VM and realising it runs like shit, they’ll be convinced windows is better, but they’ve been deceived.
Fair enough. It’s also a beast of its time. Now that everything is JavaScript or similar, vscode just works better.
It’s quite common knowledge, Microsoft does horrible operating systems but great dev tools. Visual Studio (not vscode) was amazing to develop software.
And thanks god we don’t have to deal with Eclipse anymore.
The real question would be why the open source community cannot create a better dev tool that’s not outmatched by a glorified text editor.
Yeah, that’s great.
Oh, my apologies.
I don’t want to argue about that, I personally avoid Docker if I can, but can’t deny it’s a great tool and very powerful for the right use cases.
What I wonder is: to you, in your opinion, those commands are really easier than “apt install transmission”?
Problem with that it’s that it has Qt as dependency, therefore it’s a bit of a hassle to run in a headless machine.
But it’s still a very solid option.
Being a sports car enthusiast does not automatically mean I hate Lamborghini because I own a Ferrari.
You are totally right, what I mean is you don’t have to use Linux to be a power user, but despise it it’s not a power user attitude.
if the community we’re in puts rtorrent in C tier because it’s “UNIX only” then you and I have a different meaning of “power users”.
Yes but running a web interface on top of rtorrent is not as easy as transmision.
Old sunfire were fun.
