Are any of these solutions able to be used via an AppleTV?
This may seem obvious to most, but it didn’t click in my brain until I ran into a certain situation years ago where I was caught in a situation that I needed to poop…. badly. I’m certain I looked something like the image. We were looking at a house for sale that was on a bit of land. I couldn’t find anywhere poop since we were waiting on the realtor to show up. In a last ditch effort to maintain composure, I found a tree and took a leak. The resulting space alleviated the pressure to poop. To this day I wondered when and where I might be able to share this nugget of information, and years later here I am.
Obsidian for note taking
My biggest reason for moving off Notion (and to Obsidian) was lack of offline availability. This has left me in a bind multiple times.
Apple accounts are notoriously hard to gain access to if the user hasn’t taken the time to manage their security questions and/or delegate others to have access in dire circumstances. I highly encourage everyone to take a few minutes to designate someone and make sure security phrases etc are all in order. Losing access to the account could mean lost access to critical documents and memories (depending on how you use iCloud) forever.
A warning to those that haven’t looked at this list…. It’s a time vacuum. A “few minutes” of browsing it will translate to hours lost and family members on the verge of reporting you as missing.
I use Obsidian for this, with the added benefit that you can still access your stuff offline. Notion requires a connection last I checked, which put me in a bind a couple times. Obsidian also has a bit of a learning curve.
1Password does a good job of allowing both me and my partner to use logins. I’m excited to try out the new keychain stuff, but it would need this ability for me to switch and stop paying for 1Password.
Thanks for the insight!
Is it possible for the scans to be stored as files that are readable should paperless crash and I’m not around to get it up and running, or are files stored as weird non-standard file formats?
edit: looks like scans are saved as pdf’s. Thanks for the insight!

Memory unlocked. irssi was my go-to.
Similar story, except the misses randomly messaged me in AOL Instant Messanger. Lived 3k miles apart. That was 20+ years ago. Good times.
If you want to self-host, Vikunja is a pretty good replacement for Trello.
I think you’re on to something here, and would be willing to help support where I can. My guess is that my tech acumen is far behind most others here. But feel free to include me if you decide to dive deeper.
Immich is rapidly growing into the closest solution for replacing google photos. It’s not fully there yet, but there is very active development going on and it’s advancing quickly.
I like this approach because it doesn’t require someone to stand up a database to read it. I have this worry in my head that I’ll be gone for some reason and my family will need to figure things out. Them not having to deal with a database right from the beginning seems very worthwhile.
Secrets etc in 1Password, for reasons similar to above even though it doesn’t fit the self-hosted mindset.
Another thumbs up for Vikunja. Even approved by the wife! Note that integration with Apple reminders is not working currently and there doesn’t seem to be a solution.
I’ve not looked in a bit. Has their integration with Apple mail on MacOS improved? I remember it (or some other part of their service) requiring a separate app to try and get things working.
