  • I don’t think I remember any progression of authoritative laws and policy passed by a previous government being rescinded by the incumbent party. Only democratically progressive ones.

For all the ‘tHe LaSt LaBoUr GoVt’ hand wringing that the Tory party has repeated ad nauseum they didn’t pull back the various laws that they passed during their tenure. New Labour were pretty infamous for the onslaught of CCTV and trying to push through things like citizen ID cards and such. Many of the current police overreach that they have been afforded has its roots back in the days of Blair and Brown.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, I would rather them than this decade long clown show any day. For my money they did a hell of a lot more positive than bad, but to come back around on the original statement, how much of that positive and progressive social policy and schemes survive vs the shit stuff?

Son’s 14th birthday, still need to grab a card. He got caught out doing something exceptionally stupid yesterday (teenager shit), and not sure if it’s a chat to have with him on his birthday or to wait. Obviously the longer it’s left the less impact it will have. But Karting tomorrow with him, hopefully that goes well. Trying something called ‘Combat Karts’ this time, whatever that is. Hopefully it justifies it’s rediculous price premium.

In other news, starting to get seriously miffed with this fucking weather. Have only been able to get out for a run once in the last 2 weeks between family stuff. So when I do have the chance it’s either raining or I’m otherwise exhausted. Not to mention that I’ve not been able to get out on the bike for nearly a month now for the same reasons. It’s fucking July for fucking fuck. Out of all the seasons summer is the only one that I can deal with at the best of times.

I’m not looking for the European death rays, just less cold, drab, grey rain. The rest of the world is burning to a crisp and we’re soaking. Fuck, we’ve even literally sprung a leak around the window fitting as a result of the last torrential rain storm.

Just waiting for the Tarkov wipe. It’s expected in the next couple of weeks hopefully.

In the meantime I’ve been playing Battlebit, and loving it. Decided to find out what Dawn of War franchise is all about and suddenly many memes make sense.

But by far the most time is spent back on Workers and Resources. One of those games that I call a time machine. One minute you load it up, and the next it’s 5 hours later and you can’t figure out where the time went.

Yes! It’s an old friend’s birthday, so going to make the pilgrimage down to visit.

With Covid and the birth of my daughter we’ve not been able to see each other much over the last few years, but I was determined this year. Not least because I’m desperate to get away briefly. Love a good road trip.
