  • Having had both, I can say that with the framework you get a much better display, but you lose the trackpoint. The framework has better repairability, but has less IO. The hardware on the framework is well supported on Linux, but can be hit or miss on thinkpads, especially newer ones.

The only thing I’m really missing on the framework is the black thinkpad chassis - can’t really get used to the aluminum.

  • I went on a trip through the Ardennes and the weather was horrible. Hailstorms with hail sticking to my visor and lining the street, half an hour later sunshine. Heavy rain a whole day long.

The rain liners did their job. The pant liner has an elastic to keep it in place and I was able to put it on and take it off over my boots (with a bit of struggling). There also isnt any v cut. The water didn’t puddle anywhere or creep in. Actually, the only parts of me that got wet were my fingers because the gloves were absolutely waterlogged!

Maybe you had a different model liner?

  • If you haven’t published a few papers then your preference in acronyms is irrelevant.

AI comprises everything from pattern recognition like OCR and speech recognition to the complex transformers we know now. All of these are specialized in that they can only accomplish a single task. Such as recognizing graffiti or generating graffiti. AGI, artificial general intelligence, would be flexible enough to do all the things and is currently considered the holy grail of ai.

  • I haven’t had many other jackets to compare, so I’m sure that there’s better stuff out there. But for my first jacket I’m happy with it. Using the liners on the inside was certainly just an afterthought to tick a box for marketing - it’s theoretically possible, but not practically. I’ve only been using them on the outside.

The pants fit OK for me, but I’ve got skinny legs. I’ve been told by my riding instructor to wear running tights underneath and that works well. But just like with the jacket, I’ve only used the liner on the outside. In the store, I tried them with the liner on - never again.

I got a decent rebate and the back armor was included for free, so it was in my budget. Would I have had to pay full price, I guess I might have looked elsewhere.

What other jackets in that price range would you recommend?

Switching over to a new operating system can be challenging, even frightening for some people. We should acknowledge that, welcome them and offer them help along the way. We all want FOSS to gain more traction, and gatekeeping isn’t the way. How about a new community for Linux news?
