[🆕 Cosmos 0.12 - HUGE update! All in one secure Reverse-proxy, container manager with app store, integrated VPN, and authentication provider, now has a Full Monitoring suite with alerts and notifications (including presets for anti crypto miner hacks!) 📈📊 ~reddit
Usenet is paid, usually 2+ subscriptions, a Usenet/backbone provider + an indexer.
I’ve found Usenet backbone+indexer to be the same price as VPN while being significantly faster to download, no seeding required.
It allows more complicated setups like radarr+sonarr which download episodes as they come out, at around your internet speed.
I ripped out all my portable drives, had to make a cable without the energy management line for inside a PC.
Big ATX case with 8 3.5’ bays, mobo with 6 Sata ports, last two ports will require a SATA-PCIe expansion card.
1x 4TB (shucked)
2x 6TB (shucked)
1x 8TB HDD
1x 16TB Ironwolf Pro
40TB across 5 bays, 1 left without expansion card, 2 more with the card, following that the 4TB will get dropped for a bigger drive.
I’ll likely be buying no less than 12TB per drive going forward, no RAID configuration yet.
Install official version from Microsoft website.
Open PowerShell;

This authenticates Win and/or upgrades version Home/Pro
Hetzner VPS
It’s about the server access sellers, but to block a whole major VPS instead of accounts that commit the violation is kinda absurd.
It looks like another step towards further restricting what users can do with their servers, local or virtual.
The 1650TI Laptop is about par in graphics with the 780M.
I use Turkey, it’s around $2.50 per month for the 6-person plan.
Deemix with a Deezer free trial for good quality, free is 128kbps.
Because they are paying Reddit for that API use, they won’t be getting it for free.
The app has is own API, not for individual user.
They are averaging out the cost.
I use Frugal Usenet via this link and NZBGeek as my indexer for $6/6m
Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny, or another brand similar.
The pricing since the pandemic has been cheaper than Raspberry Pi4’s in my region.
I’m happy with my $5 pm for Usenet + Indexer, on top of hard drive costs.
That’s what I’m using, it barely uses more power than a pi & it’s a 64bit x86 4core with 16GB Dual Channel, 256GB SSD.
I’ve seen newer versions of what I have for cheaper than the average Pi4, I would never consider the Raspberry over this solution given how monolithically more powerful it is for how small they are.
I have Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Server without a desktop GUI and I control it on my PC via CMD with SSH user@localipaddress
I own this domain and don’t have anything better to use it for, so it’s a shorter link to the above mentioned community indexer.
I tried Symfonium and paid for it, but the Google Play unlock took my money and didn’t unlock it, I emailed the developer and had such a bad reaction I had to report him to Google who said they were considering taking down his account. I have the screenshots of I choose to make a post in the future. But I won’t be using Symfonium in the future.
I have started using AudioBookShelf for audiobooks & podcasts and it’s been really good.
I like jellyfin on desktop, but the TV app isn’t great, that being said the streaming is much better than Plex but I didn’t try transcode.
I avoid anime specifically because of the dropped plugin support so Jellyfin might need to come in just for that.
Komga is what I use for Comics.
Any platform that believes it should be their choice whether the user can opt-in to any part of the fediverse, is a big no from me.
