They could try to pass it as a legitimate interest but likely it would be struck as being ultimately disfavouring the individual and favouring the business. Probably.
Well then explain me how you propose to apply data subject rights to a llm… you can’t currently un-train those as far as I know. And that’s not touching IP which isn’t exactly the same here and there.
I’m professionally watching what’s happening with this very topic and the current state of the law and related decisions makes everyone in the business cautious at the very least. Doesn’t prevent business to take risks but it’s risk taking indeed.
Yeah that’s not standing in europe… especially for PII…
Yeah definitely a good idea. Routing your mobile traffic through it so your carrier cannot access your traffic and the services you don’t want to share location with can’t snoop as much on you.
I’d say it’s about designing a good strategy. I have local backups on my NAS and a nightly incremental backup to cloud locations from there. That way the capture from my local equipment to the NAS is lightning fast and it’s not a big deal to have it take a few hours to reach the cloud. Also having a NAS on a power backup is a must-have.
True, it’s not at all stage where it’s likely to be a problem. The army of very old persons isn’t at the door just yet ;-)
Same for me. I started to chit chat a bit here and there just to have some more activity but I miss a community I like to be part of.
True. Related to that I wish there were more engagement on lemmy. Most of the posts in my stream have zero replies or 1 and it’s the bot. But let’s keep smaller numbers - quality over quantity.
Meh. Not like there are shareholders to appraise of growth…
Thanks for the feedback :) Container-wise it will be related to smart home integration largely so hopefully things like homebridge aren’t too resource hungry.
Just when I’m on the fence ton replace my ds214 play. Hoping for better performances for the surveillance station and the docker capability that I currently lack.
Not sure I’m entirely with you on that one; what’s the alternative to schooling kids so that they achieve autonomy and how do you propose to make them fit in a society where is seems important to have compatibility between everyone’s behaviour if not by pushing them towards a standard ?
There’s plenty of training material for those around I understand…
Risks of the AI going amok set aside there’s something appealing in not risking human lifes during conflicts. Karmically or economically wise. Also you remove the limitations of human bodies -suddenly your airframe can give 100% of its capabilities without turning the pilot in a milkshake.

Security cameras with a central continuous recording system + alerts and automations… plenty of fun to be had. Also wifi access points on poe depending on the interface speed. Got those 2 at home and it has been a treat so far.
Opt-out is still illegal in many cases… a lot must be opt-in based. Typically consent must be freely given.
I haven’t yet put it into numbers and anyway compared to the expenses to get there will be depressing but measuring temperatures to take decisions on how to manage heat allowed us to reduce the house temp from 29 Celsius to 21 over a week of tweaking. This week we’re getting the cooling system installed and I believe that with this knowledge the running cost will be much lower. In a part of the house I already automated the curtains which led also to a decrease of temps - I could cut air condition altogether there. So definitely a confort gain at least. Now money-wise it’s anyway a cost case with the automation relying on new solar panels, heat pump, new electrical cabling… so if you exclude our perception of additional confort it’s definitely not seeing a positive ROI before I’m dead of old age. But no regrets anyway.
Would you happen to have one to recommend to switch from Spotify to apple music? I’m thinking about moving but my playlists are keeping me from leaving.
