PopOS! and Endeavor are my two recommendations for newbies. The former for fresh to Linux folks and the latter for those with some experience.

In China, they’re the same picture.
All Chinese companies are the CCP. That’s how the system works.
MacOS’s memory scheduler is leaps and bounds better than what Windows uses. It’s more apt to compare the RAM on a machine running MacOS to one running a common Linux distro. Windows needs more RAM than the other two by two to three times because it’s fuckterrible at using it.
I’ve run Plex servers on Mac Minis (M1). Docker on MacOS runs well finally — the issues that were everywhere a couple of years ago are resolved.
It ran very well on the hardware. The OP of this post is right, 8gb is not enough in 2024; however I would also wager that the vast majority of commenters have not used MacOS recently or regularly. It is actually very performant and has a memory scheduler that rivals that found on GNU/Linux. Apple’s users aren’t wrong when they talk about how much better the OS is than Windows at using memory.
BULLSHIT
No one has hard bricked a device, you can always flash MacOS back with a tool. Any issues installing are years old. OFC it’s a work in progress, so is all of Linux even RHEL. It is 100% ready to daily drive and many people do.
Asahi is not at all “alpha” and I’d hesitate to describe even parts of it on the first and second generation Apple silicon as “beta.” Its daily driver levels of stability and I’m constantly impressed by it.
This is illegal in my state. I’d be interested to see how it complies with other states’ price tag laws and labeling requirements.
BIOS locked to Windows keys. Tuxedo is promising a Linux version of the same SOC soon, though.
iPhones have been getting thicker year over year since the 11. The 15 is the largest jump in thickness over that period, too. It’s actually pretty reasonable that Apple would seek to return to at least the last prior model’s form factor.
That’s just Jason X.
Apple needs them just as badly as OpenAI needs every iPhone user. They’re horribly behind in this “AI” bubble.
I like the philosophy and approach from them, but I think one of those Tuxedo ARM notebooks will be my next computer purchase. I’ve been jealous of the speed and battery life of people around me with M-Series MacBooks for a few years now, but unwilling to go to the OS and Asahi isn’t there for me yet.
They have to be, but even still it’s digital goods. So, price of production is peanuts once development is covered — just infrastructure.
I’ve lived in several European countries and also worked in compliance departments for auto manufacturers. You have zero clue what you’re talking about.
Despite the recent slow sales, Boeing still has a huge backlog of over 5,600 orders
It’s not just that hardware price that benefits Apple. Their services revenue was 30% of total revenue last year and it’s growing. Between the App Store cut, AppleTV+, iCloud, and all the others, they are running headlong into a world where selling an iPhone is a smaller piece of the pie than selling apps and cloud storage is.
European road safety regulations are significantly weaker than those in the US and Canada.
I mean, Gnome suck imho. But, it’s easier to learn than dealing with issues that Mint causes due to drivers and game compatibility.
