8GB is definitely not enough for coding, gaming, or most creative work but it’s fine for basic office/school work or entertainment. Heck my M1 Macbook Air is even good with basic Photoshop/Illustrator work and light AV editing. I certainly prefer my PC laptop with 32GB and a dedicated GPU but its power adapter weighs more than a Macbook Air.
My kid and his friends use FaceTime instead of calling and will often be on it for hours while gaming. It’s much easier than a call for 3+ people. We are in the US but I imagine they use whatsapp or whatever the same way other places.
I work for a smaller org (less than 50 ppl) and we are generally required to have cameras on in meetings.
The video phone is now facetime, skype, zoom, google meet etc…

The case may be closed but you could open it and disconnect the battery. That model is a pain to replace the battery but easy to open and disconnect. Not sure if this would cause any issues if plugged in or if the machine would boot.
Scrubs has different music in many places in the streaming episodes compared the original broadcast and DVDs.

Same, we got several small batches of XPS13 over a period of several years and just about all had problems. We had issues with batteries, drivers, random hardware failures, or total failure. We switched ThinkPad X1 Yoga and Surface Laptops 13 and have far fewer issues now.
Google does good photos and image processing. My last Pixel was the 3 and it initially took better pics after 2 years than the latest iPhone that replaced it. After a while I got used to the camera and other iOS settings.

Have you tried a different usb port? Sometimes certain peripherals work better in USB 2 ports vs 3. Also sometimes you can go into bios and set certain ports to always on.
Never heard of that one, seems like Adobe never has the fonts I need. I generally get lucky with a quick google search or a site like dafont.
All apple cables and adapters are overpriced. People should just buy new cables. It takes the same amount of time to plug/unplug an adapter and a cable.
The last time I tried to copy multiple large videos from iPhone to PC it failed multiple times so I ended up just syncing with dropbox.
Its been on macbooks since 2015 on the small one with the 12” screen.
Or the mini will become the new SE? I don’t even bother keeping up with phone releases any more. As long as you have a phone that came out in the past few years you are fine.
Tile is the closest but it has a much smaller user base since it depends on people having the tile app installed. Airtags pickup on most iphones since most people have “Find My” enabled.
I live in a large city and as of last year I have two choices for high speed home internet. I was paying $70/month for 300/20 with cable, now I have fiber and pay $70/month for 300/300. At least the first year was cheaper as a new customer and the faster upload speed is helpful for work from home.
Yeah I agree, though I always thought Narwhal was the second most popular 3rd party iOS app behind Apollo. Maybe those apps still open agreed to exchange user data with reddit or something? I just went to the app store for Narwhal and the privacy policy goes to a link that says its no longer active. Maybe that is an oversight or maybe not? I haven’t had an active reddit login for a few years now but old.reddit… also still works for NSFW views with no login.
I mostly just browse a few fringe subs and check to see whats on the frontpage and r/all. The general content on those has been really bad lately. It feels like a mix of corporate approved news, repost bots, and writing prompts which is probably what it is.
Not sure about Comet but the Narwhal dev made some deal with reddit. They removed ads and nsfw content and are going to release a subscription based model I think.
This is true for part time or casual use but for all day work use including travel you get better build quality and far less problems with a pro grade machine. We spend the same on a macbook, thinkpad, surface or probook for our basic full time users.
While it may be a bit overkill for someone who spends their day in word, excel, chrome and zoom we save money in the long term due to reliability. There is far less downtime and IT time spent on each user over the life of the system (3-4 years). The same is true about higher quality computer accessories.
