Either the team had free time and weren’t being used to capacity, employees aren’t doing continuing education during work anymore, or they are being overworked. You don’t just magically take on scope and not have labor hours shift at a bare minimum.
I refuse to take anyone at face value when they say they are using physical hardware, setting up automation, and running support on all of that and the labor hours are described as peanuts.

Xbmc plugins were garbage and the media scanner was garbage. You people are just forgetting how bad xbmc was, especially if you had it set up with something like sabnbdz which regularly would screw up wherever regex matching they were doing.

It was worth every penny and saved me hundreds of hours fucking around with libraries to scan in anime because it doesn’t follow the proper s01e01 format.

It’s also a tech issue. Linux Desktop is a mess and breaks constantly as soon as you start to tweak it. And every damn plug in is maintained by a few different people with no commitment of backwards compatibility. It’s a disaster and incredibly time intensive to troubleshoot every broken desktop on patches.
Linux is great for running technology services. Linux DE is and has been a disaster for 20 years now.
