A geologist and archaeologist by training, a nerd by inclination - books, films, fossils, comics, rocks, games, folklore, and, generally, the rum and uncanny… Let’s have it!

Ratings here refers to the viewer numbers not whether some terrible people have been review-bombing Rotten Tomatoes.
It’s my favourite era of Old Who - I went to the Doctor Who exhibition and turned a corner to see Morbius! That thing still haunts my dreams.
I was expecting a pearl-clutching hit-piece from the Telegraph but I do recognise the criticisms even if I don’t always agree with it.
The season has been a rollercoaster for me - 1st episode was abysmal, the 2nd was fantastic. Quite a few of the episodes where enjoyable whilst watching them but the more you thought about them the stupider they got (that 73 Yards one, for example). Such ups and downs are pretty much standard RTD as far as I’m concerned. The disappointment was that the Moffet episode wasn’t that great and he was usually reliable.
Seems perfect.
Careful, we don’t allow the N word on here.
Brilliant!
That’s the right wing media for you. I don’t have them blocked in my newsfeed so I can see what they are up to and it is a completely different world - pretty much anything green gets hammered.
At the start of the screening of the new episode in cinemas, Millie Gibson popped up saying all mysteries will be resolved. That definitely wasn’t. I have to assume that she’s being set up as a future villain or the Mary Poppins look at the end suggests she’s Missy or it was just a throwaway thing from RTD which means nothing.
Wait! What? I’m off to… fact-check this, I may be some time.
They are developing their own extremist-infused AI models, and are already experimenting with novel ways to leverage the technology, including producing blueprints for 3D weapons and recipes for making bombs.
Given thr way AI is prone to hallucinations, they should definitely have a go at building them. Might solve our problems for us.
So the idea to make people think that Nazis are using AI, might have come from a Nazi AI? 🤯
When Kate died in the first minute I was sad, then everyone else died, and all of the tension went out of the episode, because the stakes became too ridiculous to actually be worried about.
I saw it in the cinema and a number of people gasped “no!”. I thought this would be a good way of changing the status quo and putting UNIT and the Doctor on a back foot, so they have to fight back harder (and a less competent UNIT would be more interesting for a spin-off). Then you see the great wave of dust wiping everyone out and you realise they are going to come up with some way to resolve this by the end of the episode. A real rollercoaster ride, unfortunately one leading to disappointment.
I didn’t think I had as many issues with this episode as I did until I started writing this.
Yes, the more my thoughts crystallised discussing the episode, the more I realised how much I disliked it.
Get a chef who graduated from a renowned culinary school.
That’s what a friend of mine does - he is rarely home because the rich family that employs him want him on hand 24/7 and they pay accordingly. They get top notch food whenever they want it and are pretty safe from getting their food spat in. The Hindujas have probably ingested a lot of phlegm over the years. Should be good practice if they ever actually end up in prison.
I’ve had absolutely no issues and I’ve been using them for years - they’ve been rock solid and reliable. I switched to a ZigBee dongle and packed away the hub. I also use their switches and plugs, all good.
